Building the Perfect Machine

When I started Automation Commander, I started it because I wanted to build custom machinery. More specifically, I wanted to build custom machinery to serve the underserved manufactures of Oklahoma, Southern Kansas, Arkansas, and Southwestern Missouri. I learned through my previous experience as a manufacturing engineer that the machine builders on the coasts and around the motor city couldn't or wouldn't build machinery appropriate in cost and function to job shops and small manufacturers that populate this region.

The first problem I found was that the machinery for job shops and small manufacturers tend to be on the medium-to-small size, $350,000 to $15,000. I found most machine builders were not efficient below $75,000 due to overhead and other factors, forcing me to build many smaller projects in-house. I have purposefully chosen the size and type of staff, facility, and fabrication equipment to keep us efficient on these medium-to-small projects.

The second problem I found was that even though I had many similar products with operations that could be automated, the machine builders wanted to sell me a different machine for each product. At Automation Commander, we will take a creative approach to build you one machine with multiple sets of tooling in order to save you money and precious manufacturing floor space. This is just one example of the creative solutions Automation Commander provides. We also have experience solving problems with manual feeding and maintenance on a limited staff.
